SANTA BARBARA PIONEER
When a man plants a vineyard where, by all rights, no vineyard should be planted, it’s seen as folly. When the vineyard becomes one of the world’s best sites for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it’s called vision. We are guided by the pioneering spirit of our namesake, Uriel J. Nielson, who planted Santa Barbara’s first commercial vineyard in 1964.
Today we are led by our winemakers, Jonathan Nagy and Ryan Pace, who carry on this tradition of passionate, curiosity-driven winemaking and viticultural experimentation.
Our home at the edge of the Pacific Ocean offers the perfect conditions for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and other cool-climate varieties. At Nielson, we craft pure, balanced wines that capture the beauty of a Santa Barbara sunset and the thrill of a newly blazed trail. Join us.
With a new year comes new beginnings at Nielson, and we're excited to share some of our news with you. Learn more about our new Nielson Experiences..
